It’s that time of year! The arrival of spring brings Easter, Mother’s Day, bridal showers, graduations, weddings, and warm-weather patio dining. I’d wear this all-occasion spring and summer dress from Reformation brand at Nordstrom for any of these events.
What first attracted me to this dress was the print (more about that later). The classic flattering cut, the back cutouts, and the dramatic side slit also grabbed my attention! I wore it recently on a date night when my husband and I were in Scottsdale, and since we frequently travel there, I’ll be wearing summer dresses more than ever with the sizzling temperatures. This one will most definitely be on replay this season!
Comes in five colored prints
I love everything about this dress! It features a flowy skirt, high leg slit, fitted bodice, cutouts in back and cap sleeves. This midi-length dress is chic and sophisticated, and it comes in six gorgeous color/print options. Take a closer look! I think the red Oopsie Daisy print is pretty fun, too.
I was drawn to the LA print with retro-style sketches of iconic Los Angeles landmarks, like palm trees, freeways, the Hollywood Bowl, beaches, downtown, and sunsets all in graphic black and white. Not only is the print eye-catching, but it is sentimental for me, too! I lived in Los Angeles for eight years, met and married my husband of almost 32 years there, and our son was born in southern California.
The only trick with this dress is that the side slit is very high! I had mine sewn closed about 6 inches. It’s a super fast or inexpensive alteration, and well worth it as this is a timeless style with fun, bold prints. Being 5’10” with a long torso, the slit was way too high for me, but if you’re shorter and don’t mind showing a lot of leg, then it’s no problem.
Ethical practices and sustainability
I appreciate what Reformation stands for. They are all about celebrating bodies and preserving the earth with responsive, super-sustainable designs made from ethically sourced materials, rescued deadstock fabrics, and repurposed vintage clothing. Green and gorgeous…now that’s a win-win!
Styling ideas
Options for undergarments with the open back include wearing a bralette with a lacy back like this one or this one. Adhesive breast petals or pads would also work. These, these and these have received excellent reviews. Here is a convertible bra, a backless bra, and clear back straps, which are also options. If you’re smaller chested, you could even go without as the different prints are busy enough to distract.
I love the versatility of dressing this up with heels or styling it more casually with sandals or even flats. These are the accessories I paired it with along with some other options.
I hope you’re enjoying some spring weather wherever you are!

That’s so smart to have the slit sewn up somewhat. I do that even with some of my v-neck pieces!!
Just gorgeous Lisa,
