Wife. Mom. Grandma. Retired ESL teacher. World traveler. Empty nester. That’s me!
Welcome to Midlife in Bloom. Let me introduce myself.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, I set off to Los Angeles in my early 20s to work in the travel and tourism industry. That’s where a handsome California dude swept me off my feet, and we’ve been married ever since. After having our son in ’93, we uprooted from SoCal and planted ourselves in the beautiful Northern Colorado foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Our daughter was born two years later, and I was happily occupied as a stay-at-home mom.
As much as I loved being a full-time mom, when my two kiddos started finding their way, I decided to go after the college degree that I had always wanted. My lifelong interest in languages and cultures led me to graduate in my 40s with a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language, and I began a rewarding teaching career at Colorado State University working with international students from around the world.
Then after retiring from teaching and becoming an empty nester all in the same year, I began to wonder what was next. In early 2019, I put down roots in the blogging world! Drawing upon my love for beautiful, minimal style, my previous career in travel and tourism, and my decades-long commitment of living a healthy lifestyle, I found my new direction.
My aim is to use this season of life to be a resource for women by sharing style, travel, and healthy living tips and inspiration I’ve learned along the way.
I invite you to subscribe HERE to have new posts delivered to your inbox about once a week with inspiration and encouragement for your everyday lives. Let’s embrace and celebrate this season of life together!
