Picture yourself sailing the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, island hopping in Greece, or cruising the Mediterranean Sea. Now stop for a second! What are you wearing in your picture? Friends and family, or even the world, will be following your adventures on social media, so you’ll want to look stylish in your photos.

Maybe it’s been years since you’ve gone on a cruise. Or, maybe you’ve planned your first cruise and aren’t sure what to pack. As a seasoned cruiser, I have some tips and ideas!

On a 7- to 10-day cruise, you’ll likely experience different countries, climates, and daily situations where you’ll want to have the right clothes to feel comfortable and look great. You may find yourself changing outfits up to three times a day, so plan to pack more than you would for other vacations, or plan pieces that you can wear multiple ways. Think casual days, chic evenings, exploring ports, pool or beach days, unexpected weather, and more.

These are some of the outfits I wore on our last 7-day Caribbean cruise. I hope you find inspiration for your next warm-weather cruise. I’ve included links for these and similar outfits.

Outfits for Daytime excursions

Comfort is key for daytime excursions or for beach days! Think sundresses, shorts, off-the-shoulder tops, swimsuit with cover up, comfortable shoes, palazzo, linen, or cropped pants, or a skirt. These outfits are stylish and comfortable for shopping and exploring ports of call.

Outfits for days at sea

On sea days, depending on what you like to do, shorts, sundresses, or cropped, linen, colorful, or palazzo pants are all appropriate. If you plan to take in the sun or participate in pool games, then slip into your swimsuit, grab your coverup, and enjoy a piña colada or two…or three!

I’m not much of a pool or water person, so my preference is to wear casual chic attire on sea days. That way I feel comfortable in whatever dining venue I choose, or whether I’m shopping onboard, attending an enrichment activity, sitting in the martini bar or library, or getting to know other travelers or crew members.

Days at sea are perfect for visiting the fitness center and burning off some of the calories you’ll be consuming, so remember to pack workout clothes too.

Evening wear

Evenings are the time to bring your bling and get glammed up, girls! Seven-day cruises usually have two nights during which you’ll want to dress up, known as evening chic or formal nights.

Do you have a long, formal gown you’ve worn once or twice? Bring it! You’ll be in good company dressed to the nines! Evening gowns, cocktail or little black dresses are also perfect for chic evenings too. I purchased my beaded, backless gown 20 years ago and always bring it along with one of my LBDs for the formal evenings.

On smart casual nights, slip into a jumpsuit, or dress up your sundress, pants, or maxi skirts with stylish shoes and accessories.
