“August is like the Sunday of summer.” ~Anonymous

I always savor the last days of summer as one clings to Sunday afternoons before the work week begins. Don’t get me wrong, I love early autumn in Colorado with brisk mornings and the change of season visible all around. But I know that all too soon, the shorter days and the long chill will settle in until next year.

While many fashion bloggers are showing fall transitional looks, I can’t quite bring myself there yet. Therefore, today, I’m showing four resort-casual outfits I wore on our recent trip to Newport Beach and that I will wear again when I’m back in Scottsdale next week.

These are definitely casual, daytime looks to wear from beach and poolside to day outings. Also, if you’re planning a winter getaway (like we are) I hope these looks give you inspiration!

Outfit 1: Linen Pants with Statement Tank

My wardrobe consists of mostly timeless, classic pieces I can wear year after year like these Bella Dahl linen pants I’ve had for 6+ years. Sadly, these exact ones are not available, but I’ve linked similar ones in the shopping widget down below.

I paired them with this super cute, embroidery-detailed, criss-cross top from Nordstrom.

This statement tank is one of my favorite buys this summer, and it’s currently 40% off. Because I’m narrow in the torso, I sized down to an XS.

Outfit 2: Tie-Waist, Linen-Blend Pants Look

These linen-blend, striped pants, also from Bella Dahl, have a comfortable, classic, loose fit, a tie waist, deep pockets, and they run long. I’m wearing a size 27.

I paired them with this lattice-patterned tank from Tees by Tina and added beachy accessories, like this natural pearl necklace, for our outing to Crystal Cove Beach. I would also wear them with a body suit or a classic white tee or blouse.

Outfit 3: Keyhole Swimsuit with Tie-Waist Shorts

This high-neck, keyhole swimsuit from Everything But Water has an open, low back and is a flattering cut for all shapes and sizes. For walking around, I added these tie-waist shorts with side stitch detailing from Loft Outlet. The shorts are on clearance for $9.99.

This swimsuit could easily double as a bodysuit and be worn with a patterned mini or maxi skirt or the striped pants above. The straw purse and hat are fun finishing touches.

Outfit 4: Cropped White Jeans with Striped Tank

I’ve worn these jeans from J. Crew so much this summer. They’re ultra comfortable because they aren’t too skinny in the leg. The true, skinny-cut jeans always feel like they’re choking my legs! These are a straight-leg, cropped cut with a 10″ rise and are my faves, by far, with just a little more room for comfort.

The exposed, button-fly is a nice detail, too. They come in regular, petite, and tall sizes. I’m wearing a regular, size 27.

This classic, nautical-style top can be paired with anything. I think it’s from H & M, but I’m not sure. I can’t find it on their website, so I’ve linked other similar ones below, and you can probably find a similar one in stores.
